Equipment Lockers, Security Cages & Steel Storage Solutions for the Royal Marines
The Corps of Royal Marines (RM) is an amphibious light infantry fighting arm of the Royal Navy. As a highly specialised and adaptable elite light infantry force, the Royal Marines are trained for rapid deployment worldwide and capable of dealing with a wide range of threats.
Background
The Royal Marines support units are stationed at locations across the UK. Support infrastructure requires various field equipment to be held securely on sites which is facilitated by the upgrading and procurement of bespoke equipment lockers, cages and steel storage solutions.
Requirement
The RM Operational Support Wing needed to source a range of equipment lockers and storage solutions to suit the requirements of the Operational Support Teams. This included clothing, personal equipment, property, weapons, general operational items and security cage storage. As a specialist UK manufacturer Rotadex Systems Ltd was selected to manufacture the equipment lockers, shelving and security cage storage requirements. Rotadex is a designer and manufacturer of steel storage solutions. It operates from a purpose built 50,000 sq ft design, manufacturing and distribution facility. The company is Crown Commercial Service (CCS) and NHS Supply Chain qualified and is ISO 9001, 14001 and ISO 45001 accredited.
The Solution
Following consultation between Rotadex’s Project Manager, Product Designers and RM’s Operational Support team Rotadex produced product prototypes for critical review to ensure the equipment lockers met the operational needs of RM. Rotadex carried out site visits and consultations to ensure fit and suitability for purpose. These included individual room storage layouts and designs for property, equipment and specialist racking for the operational support units. All products were designed and manufactured by Rotadex to the exact specification of the Royal Marines.
The Results
A range of purpose built storage solutions including equipment lockers, weapons racking, RM equipment racking and security containers have been planned, manufactured and installed helping to create a new storage systems support infrastructure for the Royal Marines.
