Conservation Storage – Fungi Cabinets
Rotadex was approached by the National Museum Wales to develop and produce a specific customer driven request for upgrading the storage systems in the Botany store within the National Museum Wales at Cathays Park, Cardiff. The design required the supply of Fungi storage units to house individual drawer trays within an inert environment. Specific dimensions were needed to accommodate the samples within the available floor and ceiling space.
The Rotadex Fungi units were manufactured from 1.2mm steel with a smooth powder coated finish to BS 3900. Individual unit dimensions are H2157mm x W544mm x D600mm.
- Each unit features a double skin hinged door with 2 point top and bottom bar locking mechanism. All joints and doors are sealed with a specific conservation grade inert sealant and silicone free rubber approved by the Natural History Museum, London. This is to prevent pest ingress.
- Units are mounted on 150mm steel plinths to protect against flooding. The internal configuration is designed for the storage of fungi drawer trays each with internal dimensions H145xW435xD523mm.
- All drawer trays are easily removeable for loading and unloading.
- There are x12 internal drawer trays per unit.
- Designed, manufactured and installed to BS4971:2017 requirements for the storage of conservation and archive materials.
- Units available with suited keys and master keys.
- All units are light tested at point of installation to ensure they are air tight and suitable for the storage of fungi samples.
